QUICK FIX APPROACH TO FITNESS, IT’S AN ENEMY
By Sheeba Razwan
We often fall for fast ways to get fit. All of us want to see quick results from our efforts.
That’s because we’re hardwired that way.
It’s overwhelming to read so much information that’s out there on social media about offering quick fixes saying ‘lose 10 pounds in ten days’ or coolest celebrity diet trends or latest workout regime to lose weight fast, it gets noisy and undoable.
It’s hard for someone with hectic work schedule to work out several times a week nonstop, at the same time eat healthy and sleep on time.
Tell me did anyone become healthy by starving themselves and by working out unceasingly?
The answer is no.
Even if you achieve the results that you’re looking for, you’re unable to sustain them for long because they leave you ravenous and are too impractical to follow.
I’ve come across a lot of people who’ve worked hard on attaining their ideal weight and achieved unbelievable results following such programs, but once they reach that point and unfollow their healthy routine, they’re back to square one.
People often discontinue following such short cuts not only because they’re unrealistic but also impractical. They end up being demotivated and frustrated, thinking they’ll never accomplish what they want.
Folks, the thing here is that all of us struggle to become our perfect selves when it comes to being fit in our body and on our mind (…And secretly yearn to get toned like Jillian Michaels. Now don’t ask me who she is).
The important part is to not give up on yourself and keep moving forward.
“Fitness is a lifestyle.”
Our aim here is to stay away from the rushed approach and seek more routes to get our foundations right. Ditch the quick-fix attitude. Its effects are short-lived. You gain your fitness goals when you unfollow the quickie rule.
Work towards achieving your goals not only to look good but to be fit in your body and mind.
Reward yourself for every small step that you take towards the journey, be it a healthy meal that you ate for dinner or workout session that you completed for the week. Bask in the glory of your triumphs.
Get glued
Your focus should be to incorporate sustainable habits that not only encourage you to follow a healthy lifestyle but also stick to it long-term.
Stay away from the all-or-nothing method, it’ll end up in a disaster. Once you’ve worked hard to achieve a fit body, you think it’s ok to get back to your old ways of eating unhealthy and not working out, you’re back to where you started.
It ends up in disappointment and then you try to figure out other ways to get back into shape and the cycle continues leaving you drained and exhausted during the process.
Be consistent. That’s the key.
Get into the healthy living mode one
step at a time.
Enjoy the journey
Keeping fit doesn’t always have to be a serious business. When you’re dedicated to working out and eating clean each day, the results will be slower than you thought they would appear. But trust me you’ll see them eventually.
The important thing here is to enjoy your journey. Include new variations to your workout regime, lookout for new healthy recipe options, update your workout wardrobe.
When you’re having fun, you won’t think it to be a rut and you’ll show up to your work out with a refreshed mind-set.
Alongside a growing focus on eating and working out correctly, it is imperative to focus on having a healthy mind. Think of attaining a fit you, by following a holistic approach.
Think of it this way- When you’re stress-free, things fall into place and your life gets aligned.
Healthy habits are the way to go.
